Everett Harold Soverns, Jr.

Everett Harold Soverns, Jr, 84, passed Thursday, August 29, 2019 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Harold is a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He graduated from Culkin High School in 1954 and then attended Hinds Junior College. He soon went to work for Texaco in 1959 where he worked until retirement in 2017. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, E.H. Soverns, Sr. and Martha Mauldin Soverns. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Bourgoyne) Soverns; his sons, Sam Soverns (Lisa) and Steve Soverns (Deanna); his only sister, Jane Ivy; and grandchildren, Ashley Hearn (Ricky), Jared Soverns (Sarah), Jay Harper, and Caitlin Harper; and great-grandchildren, Breanna, Owen, Colin, and Ransom. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Kindred Hospice, as well as Reverend Joe Harris, Amanda Young, Celia Carter (C.C.) and Toni Dickerson. Special appreciation to Dr. Giffin, Dr. Guynes, and Kay McDaniel. Services will be at Glenwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the hour of the service.
