Francis L. Green

Francis L. Green, 92, of Vicksburg, died peacefully at his home with family on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

Funeral services will he held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July, 13 at First Baptist Church, Vicksburg with Dr. Matt Buckles and Rev. David Whitehead officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 at First Baptist Church preceding the service. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS.

Mr. Green was born on August 12, 1926 to Leo Clyde Green and Marie Henrietta Green. He lived most of his life in Metairie, LA. Before moving to Vicksburg in 2005 after Katrina. He was a graduate of Oklahoma University. After graduation, he joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. After the Army, he moved to Metairie where he was employed by CNG Producing. In 1968 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Boyd Green and they were married for 39 years. While in Metairie, he was a member of Kenner Baptist Church and then a member of First Baptist Church, Vicksburg.

Francis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers John Green, Clyde "Doc" Green, Thomas "Chick" Green, Wayne Green, sister Amy Taylor and son-in-law Chuck Barfield.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Green Barfield of Vicksburg, a granddaughter Beth Barfield Barnett (Barry) of Vicksburg, six great-grandchildren, Brittain, Brooke, Lexi and Lili Kistler, Hali Klein and Chip Barnett all of Vicksburg and brother-in-law Bill Taylor of Lawton, OK. Mr. Green is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Barry Barnett, Glen Green, Mike Humphries, Brittain Kistler, Will Sanders and Eddie Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Boaz Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, Development Accounting, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 3216 or to the donors favorite charity.
