Margaret Elizabeth Boykin Brown, aged 97, passed away on November 27, 2018 in Brandon, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Dewey Boykin and Katrina Price Boykin; sister, Geraldine Crawford; brother, Vernon Boykin; husband, Andrew Byron Brown, Jr.; daughter, Billie Kay Brown Chatoney; and grandson, Paul Clinton "Clint" Brown. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Dewey "Sonny" Boykin, Jr.; children, Dewey Bernard (Kaye) Brown, Paul Finlay (Cathy) Brown, Andrew Byron (Elizabeth) Brown,III; eight grandchildren Karen Elizabeth Chatoney (Lanier) Williams, William Michael (Beth) Chatoney, Tammy Kay Chatoney (Michael) Hales, Farrar Elizabeth Brown (Daniel) Walsh, Chad Finlay (Darla) Brown, Chris Byron (Charlyne) Brown, Keith Andrew (Alexandra) Brown, and Lauren Elizabeth Brown (Jonathan) Randle. She is also survived by twenty great grandchildren, fourteen great-great granchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Margaret, daughter of Dewey and Katrina Boykin, was born in Delta City (known then as Catchings), Mississippi on August 18, 1921. Margaret, also known affectionatly as "Marg" or "Mamaw", grew up in Delta City where she met and married Andrew Byron Brown, Jr. whom she called "A.B.'. He remained her devoted husband for 72 years until his death in 2009. They lived in Delta City and then Anguilla, Mississippi for many years. Together, they raised thier four children, Billie Kay, Dewey, Paul, and Andy. Following A.B.'s death, she moved to Sunnybrook Estates, a retirement community in Madison, Mississippi and then later to Brandon Court in Brandon, Mississippi. For thirty years, Margaret worked as a secretary for the Twin County Power Association in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. She was also a member of the Anguilla United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees and singing in the choir. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, home decorating and gardening, taking special pride in her yard in Anguilla with its many beautiful flower beds. Mamaw's family was the center of her life, and she enjoyed following the lives and careers of her many family members.
Visitation for Margaret Brown will be on Friday, November 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the AnguillaUnited Methodist Church, Anguilla, Mississippi. The funeral service will be at the church, at 12:00 p.m., following the visitation. Interment will be at the Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla.
Pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Dr. Keith Brown, Jeff Hales, Keith Hall, Myles Little, and Daniel Walsh. Acolytes will be Braxton Brown and Bryson Walsh.
