Funeral services for Myra LeViner Cooper, age 90, will be held Friday, May 10, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Officiants will be Reverend Paul Lee and Reverend Charlie Harris, Jr..
Visitation will be before the service at 9:30 a.m., May 10, 2019, at Glenwood Funeral Home, Vicksburg, MS.
Myra passed away on Monday, May 6, from multiple chronic medical conditions. She was the daughter of the late Harmon A. and Gertrude F. LeViner and the wife of the late Cecil Brannon Cooper, Jr..
A native of Leesburg, Florida, Myra graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol where she earned her pilot's license. In addition to the Civil Air Patrol, she worked for Avon, at Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church as Financial Secretary and for the US Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station in
Vicksburg, MS.
Throughout her life, her passion for missions was demonstrated through her service as Director of Missions, Sunday School and Training Union Teacher, G.A and WMU Director at Woodstock Park Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. She served as G.A. and WMU director at Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS. Her leadership with Senior Adult Ministries, such as 'The Bowmar Senior Saints', and the induction of 'Game Day', portrayed her passion for her faith. She was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School class at Trinity Baptist Church, Vicksburg, MS. Thanks to teacher Guyla Gould for her constant outpouring of love for Myra and the family.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by son, Steve (Flo) Cooper, and Dr. Janis S. Cooper, daughter, of Vicksburg; Grandchildren, Kristin (Craig) Fichter of Anniston, AL, and Brannon Cooper, of St. Louis, MO. Sister, Glenda DuPont of Jacksonville, FL., and brother, Gene A. LeViner, Crescent City, FL. Nieces and nephews-Kathy and Mike Shepherd, John Beasley, Donna (Clyde) Read, Michelle (Rene) Kier, Patricia (Brian) Boyda (all of Jacksonville, FL). Gerry (Mitzi) Connors, California, Bruce Connors, Linda (Chris) Carmody, Patty Connors, Marilyn (Larry) McMurray, all of Florida. Anna Neider (Jim), Laurie Neider, W. Palm Beach, FL, Leslie Neider, Dallas, TX. Viktor and Taylor Holmberg, Krista (Bradley) Chick, Jennifer (Mike) McKeown, Birmingham, AL.
The family is thankful for the plethora of caring family friends from Jacksonville, FL, to Columbia, SC, and of course, Vicksburg, MS. Loving appreciation is extended to caregivers Henrine Nichols, Vicksburg, Mary Parker, Jackson, and Alice Croxton, Columbia, SC.
Myra is predeceased by her parents, beloved husband, sisters Vivian LeViner and Vesta (John) Beasley. Sisters-and brothers-in-law Marjorie Connors (Gerald), Dorothy Berrier (Jim), Maurice DuPont; Granddaughter-Brittany Ann Cooper; Nephews-Michael Connors, Andrew Beasley, Douglas Seldon, and numerous aunts and uncles, and great aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers are John Arnold, Barry Beard, Billy Bratcher, Richard Carroll, William Cook, James Edwards, Scott McClellan, and Noel Tello.
