Rose Steen Obituary

Rose Marie Templeton Steen died Friday, July 12, 2019 at Merit Health River Region Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was 89 years old. She was born in Warren County, MS on July 24, 1929 to Fred and Eunice Marsh Templeton.

Rose was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She retired from the Vicksburg Clinic Business Office after twenty years of dedicated service. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Vicksburg Church of Christ. Rose dedicated her life to Christian service teaching bible classes and ministering to family, church family and her community. Her home was always open as a refuge for anyone in need. She had a passion for genealogy and sharing her family history.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty- seven years, Leo L. Steen; son, Stephen Glenn Steen; granddaughter, Sarah Steen Gibson; two sisters, Betty Miller and Margie Hawkins Linn; brother, Richard Templeton.

She is survived by a son, Leo Mark Steen; daughter, Gail Steen Kavanaugh (Kelly); sister, Vickey Middleton; three granddaughters, Mary Steen Mcleod, Kimberly Kavanaugh Wallace (Josh), and Jessica Steen; seven great grandsons; two great granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services for Rose will be Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Glenwood Funeral Chapel with Elder Wade Hammack and Preacher Larry Macomber officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 with services immediately following in the chapel. Interment will follow at Yokena Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Austin Gibson, Chris Gillis, Steve Culbertson, Sean Mcleod, Randy Templeton, Josh Wallace and Tim Wright.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr.Thomas Sligh, Dana Grant, Billy Neeley, Angela McCain, Lisa Thompson, Courtney Ederington, Roger Wallace, Janice Wallace and Mary Ann Macomber.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff of River Region Medical Center, Kindred Home Health and Mary Ann Macomber. Your love and compassion will always be remembered!

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sunnybrook Children’s Home, Ridgeland, MS.
