Shirley McDaniel

Shirley Ballard McDaniel, age 87, of Newellton, Louisiana, passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe after a short illness on March 7, 2019. Shirley was the daughter of the late Christopher C. Ballard and Lenora R. Ballard. Shirley was a very loved member of her church and community. She married the love of her life, Dick Taylor McDaniel, in 1948. She spent many years teaching in school and even more, sharing the love of God with young minds as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Newellton. Shirley, having no children of her own, had a way of making every child she taught feel special and loved. She was a true example of a child of God. She loved the Lord and never passed up an opportunity to share His message with anyone who would listen. She shaped many young minds in her lifetime. Her influence will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Taylor McDaniel; her father, Christopher C. Ballard and her mother, Lenora R. Ballard; and her siblings, Aaron Ballard, Archie Ballard, Tommy Lee Ballard, Walter Ballard, Olla Mae Ballard, Carrie Lee Ballard, Betty Joyce Ballard, and Edward Ballard. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Newellton on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m.
