Obituary
Albert Allen Thornton, a loving family man, passed away in Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS on September 6, 2023, at the age of 85. He was born August 13, 1938, in Utica, MS.
Allen was a hard worker and would gladly help anyone he could. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He worked for Hinds County for years driving a tandem dump truck. He treasured his nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert Thornton, his mother, Bonnie Wise Thornton, three brothers, Rueben Thornton, Jerry Thornton and David Thornton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Judy Strong Thornton, brother Bobby Thornton (Patricia) and sister Shirley Thornton Ruffin (John). He also leaves behind stepsons Wayne Strong and Michael Strong, stepdaughter Annette Raney (David), 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Bolton Cemetery, Bolton, MS. Rev. Jack Albritton will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the graveside.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
