Alice Stevens Obituary

Alice Marie Stevens, a beloved daughter of the King and servant of Christ, entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2025, at the age of 80. A strong, God-fearing woman, she lived every day with an unshakable and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ—whom she loved first and most. Her life was a reflection of His grace, and her greatest joy was sharing the gospel with others.

Jesus was the center of her life, and it was evident in everything she did. Whether she was sharing the gospel, comforting a friend, or welcoming a stranger with open arms, her faith was her guiding light. Her love for the Lord was not only spoken—it was lived out daily in the way she loved others. She served her church as children’s church leader and church treasurer for many, many years. She enjoyed working at Kamp Kumbaya for over 30 years in the snack shack, kitchen, or even as Kamp grandmother later on.

Family was her greatest joy, second only to her love for Christ. She poured her heart into raising her children, loving her grandchildren and now her great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment and milestone with them. A true matriarch, she was the glue that held generations together. Holidays, dinners, random occasions, and family photoshoots—especially those!—were never complete without her warm presence and radiant smile. She never missed an opportunity to gather her loved ones close and document the memories they created together. To her, family included not only those bound by blood, but also her cherished church and Kamp Kumbaya families, and truly anyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She never met a stranger, to her, they were only future loved ones. She had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged—seen, heard (if you spoke up and she had her hearing aids in- family joke), and loved. With her sweet and loving nature, she created a home wherever she went: a place of peace, unity, warmth, and grace.

She had a sweet spirit and a nurturing heart, she was genuine, kind, and full of life. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, full of laughter, prayer, and good food. She was always ready for a “snack” and a Coca-Cola. Whether it was a family gathering or a spontaneous visit, she made it special. The world is a little dimmer without her here, but we rejoice knowing she is now at home with her Heavenly Father, hearing the words she lived her life to one day hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her light will forever shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving children: Calvin (Claudine) Stevens, Billy (Renea) Stevens, and Susan (Tim) Stong. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lauren (Trevor) Byrd, Tyler Stevens, Taylor Stevens, Aubrey (Cody) Ramer, and Darrah (Hunter) Salamone; and her great-grandchildren: Brynlee and Dawsyn Ramer, Sadie and Ali Salamone, and Baby Byrd, due soon.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Stevens, Sr.; her grandson, Jordon Stong; her parents, Haze and Ethel Sanders; her sisters, Betty Boyd, Nita Wigley, and Debbie Davis; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and RosaLee Stevens; and her beloved childhood friend, Millie Womack.
