Amos McDaniel Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Amos Edwin McDaniel, age 80, will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at First United Pentecostal Church in Newellton, Louisiana, with Rev. Cecil Perry officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana, under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana.

Mr. McDaniel was born September 12, 1940, in Newellton, Louisiana, to Albert and Annie McDaniel. He passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, October 1, 2020, due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

Mr. McDaniel was a life-long resident of Newellton where he worked as a rural mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for over 43 years. “Papa”, as he was loving known to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved his family and his church family. He loved going to church, and he loved Jesus. He often talked about looking forward to going to his Heavenly home. He also enjoyed hunting, building model air planes, and playing guitar.

Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by four brothers, ten sisters, and his son, Kenneth McDaniel. He is survived by his wife, Gloria McDaniel; four children, Wade McDaniel (Dahlia), Darin McDaniel (Brenda), Paula Smart (Jon), and John McDaniel (Kim); nine grandchildren, Jennifer McDaniel, Russell McDaniel, Dahlianna McDaniel, Caleb McDaniel, Jacob McDaniel, Mandy Kelley, Drew Smart, Halen McDaniel, and Ace McDaniel; and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff McMurray, Keith Lewis, Malcolm McVay, Drew Smart, Caleb McDaniel, and Jacob McDaniel.
