Anna Lou Griiffith Ellis

Anna Lou Griffith Ellis passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at her residence. She was 95 years old.

Anna was born in Charleston, MS to the late Lonnie Byron Griffith and Bessie Caples Griffith. Anna graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi. She married her late husband Joseph Ellis on April 8, 1951. She taught school in Tunica, MS, Vicksburg, MS, and Port Gibson, MS. and was a home maker. She was a Taylor Medal recipient for Higher Academic Achievement. She was an avid reader and served on the board of The Harriette Person Memorial Library. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Ellis, parents Lonnie and Bessie Griffith, and a sister Jean Griffith Bryant.

She is survived by her son George Griffith Ellis (Amy), daughters JoAnn Mikell (Mike) and Kay Sturdivant (John), and 2 grandchildren Cameron Ellis and Mackenzie Ellis.

A private family graveside service will be held with Rev. Michael Herrin officiating.
