Arlice Headley Obituary

Arlice Mae Evans Headley passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Her devoted daughters were by her side as Arlice, affectionately known as Arly or MiMi, ended sixty-nine years of truly living life to the fullest as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, creating treasured memories that will ensure she will live on in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.

Arlice was born on December 17, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to her parents Edward Raymond and Arlice Gustafson Evans and joined a large, close-knit family that would be a source of strength and joy her entire life. Her happiness was complete when she met the love of her life Steve Headley in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and became his wife and the mother of two beautiful daughters, Stevie and Kristie. The young family lived an adventurous life all around the country until ultimately settling down in Louisiana to be near family.

As dedicated as she was to her family first and foremost, Arlice was deeply committed also to her career in nursing where she was respected for her expertise and known for her compassion. She began her education with her mother and sister at Hinds Community College where they earned LPN degrees. Arlice went on to complete her associates degree in registered nursing at Hennepin Technical College in 1991. Her diverse work experience included North Hennepin County Burn Unit, Los Angeles and San Diego; Cardiovascular ICU’s; ICU River Region, Vicksburg; and Home Health and Hospice Care, Tallulah. She played a major role in beginning hospice care in Tallulah.

Arlice filled her life energetically pursuing a wide range of interests that included scrapbooking, thrifting, crafting, and refinishing old furniture. She loved listening to music and had an impressive green thumb. What brought her the most joy was her five grandchildren. She spent many hours watching them play sports and would beam with pride at their many achievements.

Arlice is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Arlice Evans and by her deeply loved husband Steve Headley. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters Stevie Headley Burney, husband Robert Burney; Kristie Headley Morgan, husband Chad Dee Morgan, all of Tallulah; her beloved grandchildren, Gabrielle Headley Burney, Chad Dee Morgan, Jr., Evelyn Rose Morgan, Shepard Lee Morgan and Nash Davis Burney; her siblings Edward Evans, wife Becky; Michael Evans, wife Gail; Marlin Evans, Marla Cummins, deceased husband Mike; Marie Ernst, husband Norman; Charles Evans, wife Tracy; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A private family memorial service will be held Sunday, April 6. Donations may be made in memory of Arly to the Lung Cancer Foundation Research. A memorial wall has been created in her honor.
