Barbara Robertson Obituary

Barbara Louise Brown Robertson passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at her home in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Barbara was born at 1:30 am, on a rainy day, on November 21,1931 at Elgin & Nora Kathlan’s farm in Trenton, Missouri. She attended Davidson High School in St. Jospeh, Louisiana. She married James I. Robertson on April 7, 1955. Barbara moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi after her husband, Robbie, retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969. She was 93 years old at the time of her passing.

Barbara and her best friend of over 40 years, Bessie Farr, attended services at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS. Her graveside service will be officiated by associate pastor, Ashton Thompson. Barbara was baptized at First Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, Louisiana.

Barbara graduated from the nursing program at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. She worked as a nurse throughout her husband’s career in the Air Force. She started working at River Region Medical Corporation (Mercy Hospital, Parkview Regional Medical Center) on March 2, 1970 and retired on November 30, 1996 after 26 years of service. After retirement, Barbara loved to travel to Florida to watch the major league spring training games. Her favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals. In between her travels, she volunteered at River Region Hospital in the auxiliary department.

She is preceded by her parents, Sam & Priscilla Brown, her younger brother, Charles “C.E.” Brown, and her husband of 56 years, Robert I. Robertson, Sr. She is remembered by her godsons, Barry Marble (Amy Hampton Marble) and Brian Marble (Chyna Bailey Marble), three god grandchildren, Bailey Marble, Kennedy Marble, and William Marble, family friends, Bobbye Marble of Monroe, LA, Bill & Eileen Bailey of Vicksburg, MS, Bessie Farr of Vicksburg, MS, Kim Crawford & family of Murfreesboro, TN, and David Snow & family of Meridian, MS.

The family would like to thank Ms. Phelshia Coffie and Ms. Leonia Carter for their care, love, and support throughout the years.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah, LA on April 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s of Mississippi Hospital-Blair E. Batson Tower, local animal shelter or church.
