Mrs. Betty Joan Ferrell, born April 5, 1941, in Greenville, Mississippi, passed away on November 11, 2025, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was 84 years old.
The daughter of Guy M. Ellis Sr. and Mamie Faulkner Ellis, Betty was raised in the Mississippi Delta. Her life reflected the enduring values of her upbringing and the strength of her family roots.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Dave Ferrell. Together they built a strong and loving family. She is remembered with love by her daughter, Sophia Pecanty; her son, Brent Ferrell, and his wife Lynsey; and her grandchildren: Sophia Denise Ratliff (Kerry), Joseph Mitchell Pecanty III (Morgan), and Thomas Nicholas Ferrell. Her legacy continues through seven great-grandchildren—Jacie Ratliff, Bradley Pecanty, Declan Ratliff, Haidon Pecanty, Lakelan Pecanty, Fisher Pecanty, and Greyson Ferrell—and one great-great-grandchild, Dallas Layne Ryals.
She is also survived by her brother, Guy M. Ellis Jr., and was preceded in death by her sister, Esther Ann Eigenbrod.
Funeral services will be held on November 14, 2025, at Glenwood Funeral Home, 145 Highway 80, Vicksburg, Mississippi. The service will be officiated by Brother Brian Ivy. Visitation will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
Pallbearers will be Matt Lee, Joseph Pecanty III, Bradley Pecanty, Declan Ratliff, Lakelan Pecanty, Thomas Ferrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Lee, Haidon Pecanty and Fisher Pecanty and Kerry Ratliff.
Mrs. Ferrell’s life was marked by devotion to family and quiet strength. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and serve as a lasting inspiration to all who knew her.
