Billy Richard Pettway

Billy Richard Pettway died Tuesday February 9, 2021 at home in Yazoo City.  He was 75.  

Mr. Pettway was born on April 19, 1945 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to St. Elmo “Bilbo” Pettway and Estelle Gould Pettway.  Mr. Pettway was a life long resident of Vicksburg, MS where, together with his brother Lester, he operated Pettway Drywall.  Mr. Pettway proudly served in the US Air Force.  

Mr. Pettway is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Pettway; three brothers, Kenny Pettway, Thomas Pettway and Lester Pettway; and one sister, Debbie Garcia.  

He is survived by two sons, Kevin Pettway of South Carolina; Douglas Pettway (Levonne) of West Virginia; one daughter, Jennifer Pettway Walley (Stacey) of Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Pettway and Ted Pettway both of South Carolina; and one sister, Vernie Cason of Arkansas.  He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Sadie Pettway, Hunter Walley, Samantha Walley, and Lilia Pettway.  

Services will be at 11am Friday, February 12, 2021 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, MS with the Rev. Troy Caudle officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS.   

Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 5-7pm and Friday, February 12, 2021 from 8-11am.  

Pallbearers will be Hunter Walley, Sonny Hancock, Charles Hancock, Darrick Sones, Matthew Pettway and Michael Jones.   Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Pettway and Glenn Reddick.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research.
