Bob Hollowell

Mr. Robert Glenn (Bob) Hollowell, born August 12, 1936, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on November 18, 2025. He was 89.

Bob was the son of the late Grady C. and Lucille B. Hollowell, both of Vicksburg. He was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a graduate of Redwood High School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine and his daughter Melissa Hollowell Nevels.

He is survived by his brothers Don Hollowell (Frances), Lonnie Hollowell (Martha) both of Vicksburg and Ronnie Hollowell (Cecile); his four sons Cecil Hollowell (Susan), Thomas Hollowell (Janie), Russell Hollowell (Rita) and David Hollowell, step daughter Christy Abernathy, all of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Bob was a retired Locomotive Engineer of 45 years. A man of many talents, quick wit with a saying for most anything. A devout Christian that truly loved the Lord and made sure you knew that. He raised his children to be strong and self-sufficient. He taught his sons to be real men, to always be grateful for what you have, never take it for granted, and never forget where you came from, and above all, always follow the Lord. He was a man of time, always on time! He would always tell his children, “If you are on time, you’re late.”

R. G. spent a many a day as a locomotive engineer pulling freight through the Mississippi Delta away from home for many days at a time, working hard to provide for his family. Guns and ammo were his main hobby, and he was one of the best shots around. He was a big-time reader, and of course there were his many letters to the Editor. He always had a quick sense of humor that could definitely catch you off guard.

He is now resting with Jesus… We love you and will miss you dearly. Till we meet again in Heaven, not a goodbye, but a see ya later Pop!

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home on Saturday, December 13, 2025.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until the hour of the service.
