Bobby Thornton, 74, of Bolton, Mississippi passed away November 9, 2025. He was born December 18, 1950 in Utica, Mississippi to Albert and Bonnie Wise Thornton.
Bobby was a member of Bolton Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1970 to 1974. He worked as a carpenter at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station for 35 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and working on his many projects in his workshop. He was always willing to help anyone and loved using his woodworking skills to create custom pieces for others.
Bobby will be remembered for his loving, fun, and generous spirit. There was no doubt to anyone who spoke with him that family came first, and he loved spending time with his granddaughters. Their morning rides to school were a favorite part of his day.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia, children, Laura Thornton and Lisa and Nathan Bean, granddaughters, Sophie and Maggie Bean, and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Ruffin.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bonnie Wise Thornton, and brothers, Allen Thornton, Reuben Thornton, Jerry Thornton, and David Thornton.
Pallbearers will be Gene Bland, Don Whitley, Mark Barnett, Robbie Whitley, Jimmy Whitley, Jr., Charles Downing, Michael Whitley and Chip Whitley.
Services will be held Thursday, November 13 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10am at Bolton Baptist Church.
