Carolyn Jones Hughes

Carolyn Jones Hughes, born on November 8, 1944, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Ben and Marie Smithart Jones. She is survived by her sons Todd McDonald and Greg McDonald (Tara), a daughter Taffi Mills, brother Travis Jones, sister Diane Dent, 2 grandchildren Samantha Disch (Wilson) and Matthew McDonald (Megan), 5 great-grandchildren Camden Disch, Emerson Disch, Parker Kay Disch, Oliver McDonald, and Shepard McDonald.

Carol lived a life full of warmth, generosity, and love. She had a passion for NASCAR, often cheering for her favorite driver, Ryan Newman, with great enthusiasm. Her love for gardening was equally matched by her skill in the kitchen, where she especially delighted in baking sweets, particularly during the holiday season. 

Carol worked at Beechwood for a long time, which was fitting since she was a true social butterfly. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was a constant presence at family gatherings, where her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews adored her. Her neighbors also fondly remember her as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Carol's spirit of kindness and her ability to bring people together will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carol's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy of love, generosity, and joy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A funeral service will be Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Glenwood Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Rozzelle officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. till the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Payton Edwards, Brian Womble, Richard Brumfield, Garey Womble, Matthew McDonald, Rhett Watkins, Ricky Womble, and Chase Womble. Honorary pallbear will be James Robinson.
