In Loving Memory of Mary Catherine Hollowell
Mary Catherine Hollowell, a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful servant of God, and cherished friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will never be forgotten.
Mary Catherine was a light in every room she entered—always ready to help, always ready to serve. Her life was a reflection of the love she held for God, her family, and others. She was a true and faithful wife to the love of her life, Robert G. Hollowell, whom she married in April 1986. Their marriage was a testimony to enduring love and unshakable faith.
Mary Catherine is survived by her beloved husband Robert G. Hollowell and her cherished family: her bonus sons Thomas, Russel, Cecil, and David Hollowell; her devoted daughter Angela C. Abernathy; her granddaughter Catherine D. Abernathy (Greg); and her great-granddaughter Queen T.J. Stevens. She was preceded in death by her parents James H. Smith and Ruby Jewell Hensley; her brothers Frank, Joe, Richard, Bill, Charlie, and Wayne Smith; her sister Linda Smith; and her bonus daughter Melissa Hollowell.
Catherine’s love for the Lord was unwavering and known by all who met her. She was an active member of Refuge Church (formerly Vicksburg Church of God) from 2000 to 2018 before she and her husband joined the Vicksburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, where they continued to worship together.
She served her community with grace and diligence as a well-known head teller at BancorpSouth from 1980 until her retirement in 2012. Her work ethic, generosity, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on customers and coworkers alike.
Catherine had a servant’s heart. She delighted in making someone’s day brighter, and her kindness touched countless lives. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be forever missed, and never, ever replaced.
