Cathy Watts Obituary

Cathy “Cat” Watts died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center due to COVID complications. She was 71 years old. Cat was born July 29, 1949, in Tallulah, Louisiana. She lived in Tallulah for 22 years with her husband John “Bud” Watts.

Cat graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in 1972. She worked at Ace Amusement and Holiday Ice in Vicksburg before retiring from Midd-West Industries. She was the smiling, friendly face that greeted you at the Southern Air Heritage Museum for seven years, going above and beyond. She was also a faithful and loyal Christian. She was an extremely active member and servant of Mound Baptist Church. She was the youth director, music director, and treasurer, all while battling Parkinson’s, stage 4 renal kidney failure. No matter the impact her health had on her physically, she always gathered children to bring to church because she loved being in the Lord's house. She planted many seeds in so many lives. Cat saw the best in you even if you didn’t see it yourself.

Cat was preceded in death by her mother, Penny Towne; brother, Bill Jester, sisters, Bonita Tilden and Bobbie Morris; and daughter, Tracey Towne. She is survived by her husband, John "Buddy" Watts; sons, John (Jay) Watts, Scott Towne, Brad Watts, and James Watts; daughters, Terra Lucas and Amy Armstrong-Watts; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearer will be long time friend of the family, Roger Arnold. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Heritage Air Foundation at 179 VTR Airport Rd Tallulah, LA 71282 or Paws Rescue Group at 6622 Oak Ridge Road Vicksburg, MS 39183.

There will be a posted memorial service to celebrate her life at a future date as the COVID pandemic becomes more under control.
