Mr. Cecil Whitley, 75, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Riverbridge Specialty Hospital in Vidalia, Louisiana. He was born March 11, 1950, in Anniston, Alabama, to Albert and Annie Simmons Whitley.
Mr. Whitley loved hunting and fishing. He especially loved to fish with his fishing buddies, Brady Kimbell and Chris Coody. He loved joking around with people and having a good time. His favorite activity was cooking on his smoker and grill. He would feed anybody who came to his house. He often sat in the yard while he was grilling so he could meet his mail lady at the mailbox to give her something to eat. He worked at LeTorneau in maintenance, retiring after 30 years of service.
Mr. Whitley is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Annie Whitley; wife, Tressie Whitley; and sisters, Gainelle Brewer, Linny Allen, and Tinny Mosley. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Smith; grandson, Joshua Kyle Smith; great-grandchild, Karlie Ann Smith; brother, A.J. Whitley (Wanda); sisters, Norma Whitley, Betty Price, Ruby Freeman (Gary), and Lottie Ann Coody; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Brees.
A graveside service for Mr. Whitley will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 28, 2025, at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah with Rev. Ann O'Neal officiating, under the direction of Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be Bodie McDonald, Scott Whitley, Billy Allen, Christopher Keeton, Chris Coody, John Allen Johnston, and Mitchell Hale.
