Charles Kynerd Obituary

Charles O. "C.O." Kynerd passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his residence in Rolling Fork, MS. He was 89 years old.

Charles was born in Dekalb, MS on May 9, 1935, to J. R. and Lodie Kynerd. He graduated in 1953 from Maben High School and went on to graduate from Wood Junior College. He served 8 years in the Air National Guard before moving to Rolling Fork with his wife Jean and daughter Lisa. They joined First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork where he served as a longtime Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He worked at Delta Elastics for 32 years, retiring in 1997. They moved to Long Beach, MS before returning to Rolling Fork in 2018. They rejoined First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork upon returning to Rolling Fork for a combined membership of 41 years. C.O. was a devout Christian telling everyone he met about God. His favorite saying was "God is always in control". 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Jean Kynerd, daughter Lisa Smithhart (Terry), son Tim Kynerd, sisters Joyce Creel and Liz Goldman, and a special young man Koby Quave, whom he loved very much.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork with Rev. Britt Williamson officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. till the hour of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Perry, Shay Perry, Terry Smithhart, Barry Kynerd, David Kynerd, and Koby Quave. Honorary pallbearers will be The Sunday school class.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork or The American Cancer Society or The Delta Animal Rescue.
