Charles Anthony Peay

GRENADA, Ms. - On the morning of March 30, 2022, Charles “Tony” Anthony Peay of Grenada, Mississippi, passed away at the age of 47. Tony was born in Starkville, to Jesse and Hilda Peay in 1974. He moved to the Mississippi Delta with his family in January 1977. He graduated from Sharkey-Issaquena Academy in 1992. He went into the United States Navy where he qualified as a Submariner on the USS Sunfish at Norfolk, Va. He served until his discharge in 1996. Tony worked at Issaquena County Correctional Facility from 2000 to 2004 and then at Parchman for a short stint his main employment was as a truck driver until he became disabled in 2012. Tony was an avid reader, and rarely could you mention a subject that he did not have knowledge about. He also loved going to the movies. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse A. Peay; his mother, Hilda Peay; his brother, Jesse W. (Theresa) Peay and his sister, Janet Holmes (Bob). He is survived by his brother, Michael “Mike” (Gail) Peay and his sister, Robbie (Dave) Duncan plus nieces and nephews. There will be a private service at a later determined date.
