Charles Wayne “Charlie” Smith, 76, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born March 6, 1949, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to C.H. and Estelle Wyatt Smith.
Mr. Smith graduated from Tallulah High School. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a member of American Legion Post 100 serving as Commander. He was a member of First Baptist Church Tallulah where he participated in Sunday School. He had a long career at Letourneau retiring in 2016 after 45 years of service. Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his Lord, his family, his church, riding his motorcycle, and playing golf.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents, C.H. and Estelle Smith; two brothers, Tommy Smith and Jim Smith; and one sister, Thelma Cox. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janie Dykes Smith; son, Cliff Smith (Stacy); daughter, Jennifer Smith; two grandchildren, Colby Smith and Kinley Folden; one brother, James Smith (Missy); two sisters, Gladys Williams and Cindy Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and in-laws.
Services for Mr. Smith will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with Bro. Jay Morgan officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Kody Cox, Chad Ezell, Ryan Hodge, Calvin Johnston, Paul Johnston, and Cole Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Post 100.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to American Legion Post 100.
