Darlene Ann Muirhead

Ms. Darlene Ann Muirhead of Vicksburg Ms passed away Thursday June 5,2025 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood Ms at the age of 71. 

Darlene was born in Vicksburg Ms on November 23,1953 to the late Lawrence and Audrey Oser Muirhead. Darlene grew up in Vicksburg where she attended Jett Elementary and Warren Central High School. 

In her younger adult hood Darlene was a rigger helping build and repair bridges. One being the Mississippi River bridge here in Vicksburg. After she had her 3 sons she went on to delivering newspapers for the Vicksburg Post for many year. While she had delivered almost every route they had but she delivered the Valley park, Onward, Cary and Rollingfork for many years and was cherished by many of her customers. 

Darlene enjoyed painting, quilting, making dolls and dream catcher. She also bowled for many year and loved anything Native American. 

She loved moving and nobody could pack up a whole house and move everything as fast as she could. 

Her biggest pride was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Audrey Muirhead, a niece Michelle Muirhead, aunts Elizabeth Mullen, Vera Barker, Arthurine Voigt and Patricia Hutchinson, and Uncle David Oser. 

She is survived by her 3 sons James “Skeeter” (Shelli), Chris (Aimee) and Larry (Stacy). 7 Grandchildren Magen Hartley, Jordan Hartley, Braxton Hartley, Summer (Blake) Watkins, Chloe Hartley, Katie Hartley and Malachi Hartley. 5 great grandchildren Brayden Hartley, Drake Bost, Carson Bost, Myles Watkins and Mykenna Watkins. A brother Leroy Muirhead. Aunts Betty Ann Scallions, Katherine Pool and Sally Joe Myers. Niece Barbara Ann Muirhead and Nephew Roy Muirhead.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
