David Glasgow Obituary

David Dougal Glasgow, 85, of Utica, Mississippi, passed away on June 19th, 2025, peacefully at home. David was born on June 1, 1940, in Ackerman, Mississippi. He graduated from Utica High School in 1958, then went on to Mississippi State University, where he earned a degree in education while participating in basketball and track. His senior year, 1962, he was a contributing member of the Mississippi State men’s basketball SEC championship team.

David married Linda Lea Glasgow on June 7, 1963, in Philadelphia, Mississippi. David and Linda were happily married 62 years and left a legacy of love and laughter for their children. David was a lifelong teacher, coach and administrator. He worked in education for over 40 years, starting at West Tallahatchie High School and finishing at Copiah Academy, with stays at Leland High School, Oak Hill Academy, Greenville Christian School and Canton Academy. He was member of Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame.

David was a lifelong sports fan and loved nothing more than watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sports and activities and watching the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Germantown Lady Mavericks. A devoted family man, he enjoyed playing cards and walking the creek with his family. He also enjoyed mowing his yard, petting his cat and working puzzles.

David was member of the Utica Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He worked as a part of Samaritans Purse in support of Operation Christmas Child and the last few years he was a part of the Utica Baptist men’s weekly breakfast. He brought his love of God to everything he did, faithfully serving as a Christian example for students, colleagues, friends and family over the years.

David is survived by his spouse, Linda, his children Dave Glasgow and spouse Jamie, Jane Vaughn and spouse Paul, Amy Wells and spouse Brent, and Joel Glasgow and spouse Kerri. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, Meg, Julia and Ryle Glasgow, Conner Bryan, Luke and Clay Vaughn, Eli, Sydney, Anna Grace and Caleb Wells, and Penny Glasgow. He is survived by 3 great grandchildren, Brody, Ella and Oliver Bryan. He is also survived by his loving sister Victoria Prevost and spouse Rod Nealey along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Julia Prevost and sister Annette Boyd.

Visitation will help Monday, June 23, 2025, at Utica Baptist Church from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow with Brother Rocky Henriques officiating.
