Mrs. Destin Fitzgerald Currie, 43, formally of Cleveland, MS and residing in Utica, MS went to the Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Destin was born in Clarksdale, MS on December 11, 1976 to Don and Donna Fitzgerald. She graduated from Cleveland High School after which she graduated from Hinds Community College from the school of Cosmetology. Destin worked in several hair salons before marrying Lamar Currie on May 20, 2017. Destin owned and operated her own shop Untangled, LLC in Utica, MS. She was a member of Utica Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather John H. Nix and her grandmother Cecile Gibson.
Destin is survived by her husband Lamar Currie; her parents Don and Donna Fitzgerald; a sister Corey Fitzgerald; a brother Keith (Karen) Fitzgerald; grandmother Tommie Jean Nix; nieces Amelia, Waverly and McKenna Fitzgerald and nephew Trace Fitzgerald, all of whom she loved and adored. She is also survived by two step-sons Clay (Paige) Currie and Ethan Currie; step-grandsons Jordan, Cooper, and Max Currie and several beloved, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Destin was an animal lover. After moving to Utica, she enjoyed the outdoors including spending time with her dogs, cats, fishing, and hunting.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Utica Christian Church, 316 E. Main Street, Utica, MS 39175 with Rev. Brad Hartzog and Rev. Brad Beckwith officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in Utica Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Nix, John Nix, Benji Morgan, Ethan Currie, Jordan Currie, Max Currie, Cooper Currie, Clay Currie and Larry Worrell.
