Dewey Ja'fre McClendon "Peanut" passed away on October 30, 2024, at his home in Rolling Fork, MS. He was 56.
Peanut was born on May 29, 1968, in Greenville, MS. He was the son of the late Joe W. McClendon and Freddie R. McClendon of Rolling Fork, MS. He was a member of Rolling Fork First Baptist Church and the Rolling Fork Volunteer Fire Department. He had a volunteer spirit and could be found helping anywhere there was a need.
He was preceded in death by his father Joe W. McClendon, nephews, Brett McClendon and Drew McClendon.
He is survived by his mother, Freddie McClendon, brothers, Joe W. McClendon, Jr. (Ann) of Hernando, MS, Jeff McClendon (Beth) of Rolling Fork, uncles, Frank McClendon, Hugh McClendon and Shamon Ramsey, aunts, Myrtis Doyle, Deloris Long, Sharon Wheatley and Betty Joe Simpson, nephews, Cory McClendon of Cleveland, MS, RJ McClendon of Chester, IL, Shaw Ingram (Caroline) of Hattiesburg, MS and Ross Ingram of Alexander, AR, niece Brittany Hill (Noah) of Cleveland, MS, great-nephews Beau Hill, Weston and Cooper Ingram and great-niece Fallon McClendon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Rolling Fork First Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Peanut's best friend Brother Britt Williamson. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork, MS. Glenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pall bearers will be the members of the Rolling Fork Volunteer Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be the Twin County Crew.
Memorials may be made to the Rolling Fork First Baptist Church.
