Dorothy C. Choate died Friday, August 28, 2020, in the Sharkey-Issaquena Nursing Home. She was 96.
Born in New Hebron, MS, Dot was a paralegal in Rolling Fork for many years and served her community by helping many with her knowledge and passion for the law, She was a devoted Christian and an active member of Rolling Fork First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, She spent much of her time studying scripture and spent many hours in prayer, She loved her family and friends, and she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful aunt who was loved and respected by her nieces and nephews and always had some words of wisdom to share that would encourage them, She always set a wonderful example.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Hance Woodbury and Pearl Hickman Chain; her husband, Arthur Henry Choate; her son, Kim Rodney Choate, Sr. (Lea); her 4 brothers, George Peter Chain (Velma), Frank Dalton Chain, Hardy Brown Chain (Lois) and J.L. Clenton Chain (Annie) and her sister, Carrie Levon Chain (Woodrow).
Survivors include her brother, Carl Kenny Chain; her daughter-in-law, Lea Choate; her sister-in-law, Meriam Chain; her grandchildren, Kim Rodney Choate and wife Yuri of Volcano, Hawaii, Katie Windham and husband Waye of Rolling Fork, MS and Will Choate and wife Elise of Carter, MS, her great-grandchildren, Don Windham, Harlie Beth Windham, Ben Choate, Archer Choate, McKay Choate and Mary Greer Choate.
Thank you to Dr. Danny Jackson, Dr. Brandon Oakes and the Sharkey-Issaquena Nursing Home for the care she received over the past years.
The family asks that memorials and donations be made to First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, 73 N 2nd St,, Rolling Fork, MS 39159.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, in the Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
