Dr. David Lawrence Prudhomme was born on March 10, 1963, in Vicksburg, MS to Gerald and Louise Prudhomme. He graduated from Warren Central High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College. After graduating cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, he started his private practice which continues to bless the community of Vicksburg with quality eyecare today.
David was a dedicated husband, son, father, and grandfather who was known for his steadfast dependability and readiness to help anyone in need. He always strove to set a good example for his family and community and was tirelessly committed to empowering those around him to grow to their fullest potential in life. While he could accomplish anything he set his mind to, the true legacy he leaves behind is his abundant generosity not only with his resources but with his wisdom and his time as well. When David wasn’t working and serving those whom he loved, he was busy exploring the world around him. His interests and curiosity were limitless.
He is survived by his wife, Mani; his mother Louise; his brother Jim; his sons Jonathan (Amy), Paul (Hollie), Eli, and Jon-Luc; his stepson, Erik; his stepdaughters, Natalie and Emily; and his grandchildren, Abel, Benjamin, Olivia, Oliver, Emerie, and Hutch. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Prudhomme; his brother, Samuel Prudhomme; and his son, Andrew Prudhomme.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00PM, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Hwy 61 South in Vicksburg. Funeral will follow in the sanctuary, Rev. Billy Brumfield and Rev. Jonathan Prudhomme officiating.
Pallbearers will be Paul Prudhomme, Jonathan Prudhomme, Eli Prudhomme, Jon-Luc Prudhomme, Erik Vongkaysone and Wayne Muirhead.
