Ellen Newsome

Ellen Newsome, 103, passed away peacefully at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS on July, 21, 2021. 

Ellen was born February 24, 1918 to Frank and Ophelia Powers. She was married to the late W. H. Newsome, Jr..

Ellen was a lifelong resident of Utica and was the oldest resident at the time of her death.

She was a retired banker and worked as a secretary of Utica Christian Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member. 

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and one brother, as well as her granddaughter, Chasity Brantley Dunaway. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Newsome Reynal, great-granddaughter, Mary Ellen Dunaway, great-grandson, Brantley Dunaway, and nephew, Frank Powers along with many other relatives and friends near and far. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
