Elvie Kukor Obituary

With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Elvie Ann Laird Kukor, 87, announce her passing. Ann went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Ann was born in Rayville, LA on August 27, 1938. A woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith, Ann was known by many as a pillar in her community. She spent her life sharing her love, her creativity, and her nurturing spirit with everyone she encountered. As the proud owner of Ann's Beauty Shop and her antique store, the Ole County Place, Ann touched countless lives with her gentle care, and her love for the stories each piece of furniture and antique held. Whether you sat in her chair for a new hairstyle or stopped by her store to find a hidden treasure, you were always met with a warm smile, a listening ear, and her sincere desire to make you feel valued. Her love for the Lord was evident in all she did. Ann faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, imparting wisdom and kindness to generations of children at First Baptist Church in Newellton, LA.

In her spare time, Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life; hand-smocking dresses for her granddaughters and great-granddaughters, sewing beautiful quilts, and painting vibrant works of art that reflected the beauty she saw in the world around her.  But above all, Ann will be remembered for her boundless love for her family and her deep, unwavering faith.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Beulah Laird, husband Jerry Kukor, brothers Gene and Allan Laird and sons-in-law Don Wade Doyle and Randy McClure.

She leaves behind daughters Dawn McCarty and Lynn Doyle Riggs; granddaughters, Lindsey Bradley (Chase) and Lexie Alexander (Kevin); great-grandchildren. Kaylee Doyle, Avery Alexander, Elvie Grace Bradley and Camdon Alexander; brother John Laird (Joan); and sisters-in-law Anna Laird and Lynell Laird.

A private family service to celebrate her life will be held on September 24, 2025, at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA.  We take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, and that her love will continue to guide us.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph Hospice, especially Dr. Russell Barnes, Christy Morgan, Christy Edwards and Shonta McDaniels for their loving support and compassionate care they provided.
