F. Myrlene Van Heel

Myrlene Van Heel was born in Newellton, Louisiana, on September 9, 1944, to Burl Ray Cannon, Sr. and Emme Hazel Walters Cannon. She gained her heavenly wings on August 20, 2024, at Deerfield Nursing Home in Delhi, Louisiana, at the age of 79.

Myrlene was a mixologist for many, many years and was very good at what she did. She met so many people and knew practically everyone. She was a free spirit who loved her family and friends fiercely. She enjoyed working in her yard and had the most beautiful flowers. She loved to shoot pool and was quite the pool shark. She loved to hunt and to fish. She enjoyed the outdoors very much. She attended Willow Bayou Baptist Church for many years and loved Jesus. Myrlene was diagnosed with Alzheimers and was a resident of Deerfield in Delhi for the remainder of her life. She touched so many lives and she will be missed by so many. She lived life to the fullest while she could. We suggest you do the same. May she finally rest in Peace.

Myrlene is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Jo McLemore and Elsie Cannon. She is survived by her husband, John Van Heel; children, Cliff Glover, Jr., Janis Brewer (Jesse, Jr.), David Glover (Angie), and Lynn Rivers (Alex); grandchildren, Nicole Glover, Angela Glover, Jessica Lyons, Hershel Glover, Andrew Roberts, Candis Brewer, Kaylon Brewer, Dustin Rivers, Amber Rivers, Jordan Saldana, Cole Saldana, Joshua Thompson, and Billy Thompson, Jr.; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burl Ray Cannon, Jr. (Liz) and Carl Cannon; and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Myrlene will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the funeral service starting at 12:00 PM with Bro. Martin Parker and Bro. Don Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Moore, Alex Saldana, Braylen Letson, Hershel Glover, Cole Sandana, and Dustin Rivers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Brewer, Jr., Rusty Bedgood, Michael Beard, II, Brandon Beard, Joshua Thompson, and Billy Thompson, Jr.
