Francis Ann Ladd passed away at home on Sunday, April 26, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home at 2:00 pm. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 until the service begins. Mrs. Ladd will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery during a private family service.
Mrs. Ladd was born on November 10, 1941, in Monroe, Louisiana. She was the youngest of six children and was the only girl born to the late Lillie Otwell and George Robinson. Their family lived on a farm in Winnsboro, Louisiana where she graduated from Winnsboro High School. Mrs. Ladd then attended Nursing School at Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg, MS and obtained her Registered Nursing (RN) license. It was in Vicksburg where she met and married the love of her life, the late Donald Marvin Ladd in 1963.
She worked for pediatrician Dr. Kimble Love at the Mercy Clinic until 1971. After taking six years off, she worked at the Warren County Health Department for 26 years until her retirement in 2003. After her retirement, she enjoyed playing canasta with her friends, taking field trips with her Sunday School class, attending all of the grandchildren’s school functions and athletic events, and reading her favorite books.
Mrs. Ladd was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and discipleship training, helped with Vacation Bible School, and worked in the nursery. She also spent several weeks ministering to the needs of those displaced by Hurricane Katrina as they were sheltering at the church.
Mrs. Ladd was married to Mr. Ladd for 58 years before his death in 2021. Mrs. Ladd is survived by her three children Carol Cummins (Clark) of Pensacola, FL, Donald Ladd, Jr. (Sharon) of Columbus, MS, and Steven Ladd of Vicksburg; her two brothers Raymond Robinson of Baton Rouge, LA and James Robinson of Edwards, MS; four grandchildren – Jordan Cummins, Justice Williams (Jonny), Taylor Deer (Ryan), and Chase Ladd (Mollie); and seven great grandchildren – Jett, Demi, John Thomas, James, Macy, Mallory and baby boy Williams due in September.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Glenwood Funeral home beginning at 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Dr. Matt Buckles officiating.
