Frank James Smith

Frank James Smith, 82, passed away after a long battle with CIDP and cancer on October 3, 2022 at St. Dominic Hospital.  He was born February 5, 1940, in Lawrence County and was a long-time resident of the Reganton community.  He was a retired pipefitter.  Member of the UA Local 619 and the Vicksburg and Crystal Springs Church of Christ.

He was an avid gardener and fisherman.  He was known for his fish fries and gatherings of family and friends.  He adored his wife of 57 years.  His greatest joy was supporting his grandchildren in all their adventures.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Edna Smith, brother Earl Smith, and sister Geneva Lewis, of Monticello, MS.

He is survived by his wife Rita Templeton Smith, sons Robert (Carmen) and Patrick (Trisha) of Utica, MS; three sisters Carolyn (Glen) Sauls of Monticello, MS, Marie Marcus of Thorsby, AL, and Betty Sue (Daniel) Gandy of Linden, AL; two brothers Grady (Susan) Smith, Glen (Patricia) Smith both of Monticello, MS. Two granddaughters Jill and Jenn Smith; three grandsons Cole (Cassie), Josh, and Chase Smith and one great granddaughter Oakleigh all of Utica, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home on October 7, 2022 at 11:00 with Brother Keith Wilson and Brother Larry Macomber officiating the service.  Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home, Vicksburg, MS 9-11am.  Burial will follow at the Smith Memory Hill Cemetery at 19050 Old Port Gibson Rd, Utica, MS.

Pallbearers will be Cole Smith, Josh Smith, Chase Smith, Mickey Smith, Coby Smith, Phillip Smith, Jason Smith, Noah Henderson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dunbar McCurley, Red Payne, Tommy Newell, Tam Martin, Tommy McGriggs, Ray Kato, Leon Pantenburg, Dr. Eddie Lipscomb, Jason Sanders, Joe Richardson, Bill Russell, Brodie Brumley, Dannie Ray Knight, James Mason, Charles Davis, Mike Cannon, Darrell Flowers, Marty Stokes, Nicholas Smith, and 601 Entergy crew.
