George Reed Dill passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He was 78 years old. He was born in Vicksburg, MS on June 1, 1946, to John F. Dill and Mabel Dexter Dill. He was a member of Life Church of Vicksburg. He worked as a towboat Captain for American Com, Barge Line (ACBL), Sioux City and New Orleans Barge. He was always working on projects in his shop, taking care of his yard and sitting in his swing in his yard. He loved his grandchildren.
He is preceded by his parents, John F. Dill and Mabel Dexter Dill; brothers, John F. Dill, Jr. and Bobby Dill; sister, Rozelle Osborn.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane Brumfield Dill; sons, Randy Wester (Stacy), George Wayne Dill (Lesley) and Michael Dill (Leslie); daughter, Tere Wester Burks (Steve); brothers, Eddie Dill (Cindy) and Raymond Dill; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Uzzle, Shane Kemp, Austin Kemp, George Osborn, Daniel Renfroe, Jason Statham, Maddix Statham and Steve Burks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Russell Barnes, Dr. Walter Johnston, Bob Davidson, Keith Renfroe and Dewey Owsley, Jr.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Cresswell officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. till the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
