George Milid Nasif, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2025 in Vicksburg, MS surrounded by his family. He was born in Vicksburg on August 4, 1955, the eldest of five children, to George Milid Nasif, Sr. and Bobbie Fryery Nasif.
George graduated from South Vicksburg High School in 1973 where he played basketball, baseball, track and field and football for the Greenies. He then attended the University of Mississippi where he started in 33 football games for the Rebels as cornerback. On July 3, 1976, George married his 8th grade sweetheart and the love of his life, Judine Bailess Nasif, with whom he enjoyed 49 years of marriage.
A hardworking businessman, George served as owner and president of Vicksburg Specialty Company, a wholesale convenience store distributorship started by his grandfather in 1937 after he immigrated here from Lebanon. George led the growth of Vicksburg Specialty to operate in four states and had the privilege of working side by side with his grandfather, father, brother and sons and innumerable valued colleagues.
George was a friend, coach, teammate and mentor to many. However, his greatest joy in life was family. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished father-in-law and deeply adored grandfather, George was affectionately known as “G.” He will be most remembered for his big heart and unwavering faith in God. George found comfort in God’s promises to carry him through life’s celebrations and challenges, including his five year battle with prostate cancer and leukemia. A long-standing member of Hawkins United Methodist Church, George served on the Board of Trustees, taught Sunday School for years and held various leadership positions.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Nasif. He is survived by his dedicated, faithful and loving wife, Judy; his sons Christopher Norman Nasif (Sarah) and Blake Bailess Nasif (Maggie); his daughter, Neely Nasif Moffett (Drew) and six grandchildren – Andrew, Mia, Lucy, Max, Bo and Molly; his brother, Greg Nasif (Linda); his two sisters Amy Heath (Ronny) and Julie Litle (Bob); and numerous extended family members and friends.
Though he will be missed deeply, we find peace knowing that his legacy will live on through his family, the company he helped build and the countless lives he touched. We are forever grateful for the example he set and the lessons he passed on before his final resting place in the arms of his Savior in heaven.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care George received from the medical team at M.D. Anderson, Dr. Carter Milner at the staff at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his hospice nurse, Jessi Pennington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mississippi Blood Services or the Storehouse Community Food Pantry. Visitation will be held on July 28th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home with services immediately following the visitation.
