George McCreary Tweedle, 80, passed away on October 10, 2023, at Merit Health River Region Hospital in Vicksburg, following a lengthy illness. He was born on August 18, 1943, in Rosedale, MS to Johnnie Marlin and Nettie Mahaley McCreary Tweedle.
He was educated in the Bolivar County School District, graduating from Rosedale High School. He was a member of the Greenwood National Guard and The First Baptist Church in Rosedale and served as his son's Little League Coach. He was employed as superintendent of The Union Compress and Warehouse in Rosedale, afterwards moving to Vicksburg with the same position. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Vicksburg.
George Tweedle, affectionately known as "Mac" was fun- loving and always enjoyed life. He spent many hours outdoors, hunting, fishing on the Mississippi River, riding horses and playing golf. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren. They were the light of his life. He spent as much time as possible going to their activities. They lovingly called him "Pappy". He will be dearly missed by them and all his family and friends.
He is survived by sons: William Ashley Tweedle (Felicia) and George McCreary Tweedle, Jr "Chip"; brothers, J.M. Tweedle, Jr. (Barbara) and L.W. Buddy Carroll; grandchildren, William Grahm Tweedle, Landry Hayes Tweedle and Skylar Ann Tweedle; nieces, Elizabeth Anne Wienke Spinks, Kimberly Anne Lamb and Melissa Kelly Tweedle; nephews, William Lafayette Wienke (Tiffany) and John Marlin Tweedle, III (Macye). George is also survived by a host of great nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Carroll Blackwell.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 23 at Glenwood Funeral Home, Vicksburg, MS. Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
