George Alan Zinke, 70, of Madison, Mississippi, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, April 6, 2021. He was born in Great Bend, Kansas on September 29, 1950.
A private burial service will be held at Greenlawn Garden in Vicksburg, Mississippi on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 am. Thomas “Trey” Smith will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held at First Baptist Church, Madison, Mississippi at 1:30 followed by a Celebration of Life service led by Dr. Kiely Young at 2:30. Covid procedures will be observed and all are welcomed.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Reginia Sullivan Zinke, a son R. Cody Goss (Sarah), granddaughters Kathryn and Shelby Goss, and grandson Devon LaCore. His brothers William (Bill) Zinke (Linda) and Owen Zinke (Donna), nieces Alicia Benson (Josh) and Megan Zinke and nephews Michael Zinke (Jessica) and Eric Zinke (Tian). He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Francis Zinke.
He was a graduate of Abilene High School and Wichita State University, receiving a degree in Electrical Engineering. Most of his career was spent working for Entergy in the Nuclear division in Mississippi, Louisiana and Maine. However, the career he most enjoyed was as a church musician, serving in churches wherever he lived. He also spent many years as a Sunday School teacher and Bible study leader.
