Georgia Marie Smith Cox

Georgia Marie Smtih Cox passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was 80 years old. She was born on August 23, 1944, to Johnnie Benton Smith and Maggie Humphreys Smith. She loved to art, painting and gardening. She resided and worked in Vicksburg since 1962 to 2000. Then she moved to Edwards, MS in the 2000. She attended Vicksburg School of Cosmetology. She was the owner of Classic Head-Quarters since 1983. She retired in 2000. She worked at Hinds Community College after she retired. 

She is preceded in death by parents, Johnnie Benton Smith and Maggie Humphreys Smith; husband William "Bill" Cox; son, Kevin Cox, brother, Johnnie Smith; sister, Betty Monk.

She is survived by her son, Jacque David Cox; daughter, Renee Bryant (David); grandchildren, Benton Cox, Katelyn Cox Barr (Luke), Garland Bryant, Noah Cox and William "Liam" Cox. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Gilbert, George Bridevaux, John Arnold, Quint Stinson, Kendall Foster, Eric Williams, Richey Woods, Bobby Dedmon, JP Smith, Tony Kolb and John Kolb. 

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jackie Baines officiating the service. A graveside service will follow at Edwards Cemetery.
