Gerald Britton Mitchell, Jr.

Gerald Britton “Britt” Mitchell, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on August 19, 1956, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Britt spent much of his life on Mitchell Hill in Utica. A skilled welder, he retired from Hebeler, where he worked on the harbor. Britt was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing and sharing time with his beloved partner, Alice. Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, Britt never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love for life and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be forever remembered by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Sr. and Margaret Mitchell. Britt leaves behind his significant other, Alice Luckett, his daughters, Kelly Larson (Jason) and Rebecca Mitchell; his brothers, Mark Mitchell (Lori) and Mike Mitchell (Jona); his sister, Gerawyn Mitchell; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth, Austin, Connor, Carly, Rylee, Alex, Alexis and Lily; two great-grandchildren; as well as cherished nieces, a nephew and many dear friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Britt's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, with Pastor Marvin Curtis officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until the time of service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Mitchell, Cliff Focus, Lamar Currie, Dave Ellison, Guy Barnette, Ken Chapman, Jason Sykes, Jason Luster, and Wiley Pritchard, Sr.
