Gerald Stampley, 83, was born on July 11, 1942, in Vicksburg, MS and was called home to be with the Lord and Savior on July 13, 2025.
Gerald grew up in Port Gibson, MS. He lived in Vicksburg for 20 plus years to raise his daughter before moving back to Port Gibson in 1999. Gerald served in the National Guard and worked for Sears Robuck as a repairman where he retired after 32 years. He loved repairing projects (small or large), his garden growing tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons and greens. He also grew peaches, plums, figs, roses, and trees. He enjoyed working with his hands as a wood worker building hope chest, tables, doll houses, and crosses for the church and was a great carpenter. He had many things he really enjoyed doing which included riding his property, looking for wild plums and muscadines, and riding to the creek. He took great pleasure in being on his tractor building two ponds so his grandson (Will) could come fishing with him. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed making sure his family had great meals. He was a member of Redbone United Methodist Church.
Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanie; his loving daughter Angela Covington (Cliff); his treasured grandchildren Trey Ashley and Kyle Boyd (Carly); and adored great-grandchildren Shani Ashley and Will Ashley. His adored Bella (Angela and Cliff's dachshund dog) they would sit for hours in the back yard watching birds and squirrels.
