Glynn Ray Averett

Glynn Ray Averett peacefully passed away at home on February 3, 2025, in Tallulah, Louisiana (Quebec, Louisiana). Visitation will be held at Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.

Glynn was born in Columbia, Louisiana, to Mary Anna H. Averett and Archie E. Averett. Glynn's family moved to Tallulah, Louisiana, where Glynn attended Tallulah High School through the eighth (8th) grade. He obtained his GED after joining the Air Force and serving his country for four (4) years as an airplane mechanic.

Glynn worked for Ralph Loe and Loe Equipment for many years as a mechanic and then became manager before he resigned and started farming full time. His farming life reflected his love and respect for the land. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing with friends and family.

Glynn is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Thames Averett; a son, M. Graling Averett; a daughter, Kim L. Averett Price (husband Fred G. Price); three granddaughters, Kirsten M. Price Simon (husband Sobe Simon), Emily Kate Price and Amanda Averett Burns (husband Josh Burns). Glynn was preceded in death by all his siblings except one, Pat Crews.

Glynn donated his body to science at LSU School of Medicine.
