Gwen "Lady" Gentry Tindell

A memorial graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gwen “Lady” Gentry Tindell, age 89, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 20, 2023, at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Tenas Parish, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM, under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana. Bro. Sammy Morrow and Bro. Larry Foster will officiate the service.

Gwen “Lady” Gentry Tindell passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Saint Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana, after a brief illness. She was born in Newellton, Louisiana, on July 27, 1933, to Fred Austin and Cora Marlow Gentry.

“Lady” was a permanent fixture in the Saint Joseph Baptist Church, where she would always have a hug for everyone. Her career was dedicated in Tensas Parish as a school teacher, which she loved.

“Lady” is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Albert “Buddy” Tindell; parents, Fred Austin Gentry, Sr. and Cora Leigh Marlow Gentry; sisters, Lela Gentry Feldner and Martha Gentry; and one brother, Fred Austin Gentry, Jr.

“Lady” is survived by her daughter, Kayla Sevier, and husband Jim, of Tallulah, Louisiana; two granddaughters, Lauren and Nancy Sevier; and a great grandson, Albert Gary. Other survivors include one sister, Mary Ann Norris, honorary sister, Lynn Thompson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
