Harold Dewayne “T-Bird” Murphy, 73, died Saturday, June 20, 2026, at his home in Richmond, Louisiana. He was born November 5, 1952, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, to Edward and Marie Bell Murphy.
T-Bird was a hard-working man, owner and operator of a lawn/maintenance company. He would do anything for anybody and was loved by everybody who knew him. If he knew somebody needed help, he was always there doing whatever needed to be done. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
T-Bird was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Darryl Matlock. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Bingham Murphy; children, Jason Murphy (Stephanie), Shannon Murphy, Carl Petty (Corrine), Joyce Lawson (Randal), Brian Matlock (Sharon), Ricky Petty, Cherry Moss (Baron), Tonya Tarver (Carl), and Rodney Petty (Rhonda); daughter-in-law, Jackie Matlock; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat Eckerman and Nona Kiellough,
A visitation for T-Bird will be held 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Charles Brown, Chip Sullivan, Rick Kivett, Dalton Fortenberry, Robert Miracle, Kevin Purvis, Dax Brown, and Dick Brown.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for the excellent care and compassion they gave to T-Bird and his family.
