Hazel Lenell Hopson Ivy

Hazel Lenell Hopson Ivy, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away peacefully October 29, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Hazel was born on October 14th, 1933 to John William Leroy Hopson and Birdie Mae Everett. She was a former US Postal Service rural letter carrier in Anguilla, Mississippi and was a member of Straight Bayou Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oris Calvin Ivy and daughter, Charlotte Diane Ivy Freeney.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Ivy Dunlap, of Brandon, Mississippi and son Bobby Joe Ivy of Anguilla, Mississippi; grandchildren William Calvin Freeney, Kirk Adam Freeney, Alec McCarty Dunlap, Ivy Breanna Dunlap, and Summer Christian Dunlap.

Hazel had an endless bounty of love for her family, and she truly never met a stranger. Her kindness and genuine spirit shined out onto those around her, no matter where she was. She never hesitated to help out those she loved, and she always sacrificed everything she could for her family. She will be remembered as a warm, caring, and loving woman whose legacy and memory will live on through her family.

A funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Louise, MS on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Straight Bayou Baptist Church Cemetery, 157 Church Rd, Anguilla, MS 38721
