Hizzie "Ray" Goings

Hizzie Ray Goings, 88, passed away on September 7, 2025, at HaloHaven in Brookhaven, MS to be with his Lord.

Ray was a devoted husband to his late wife, Jo Ellen Goings, for 58 years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren wholeheartedly.  He worked for WestingHouse / Cooper Lighting in Vicksburg, MS for 42 years before retiring.

Ray and Jo Ellen were members of Mound Baptist Church in Mound, LA for 50 years before moving to Brookhaven, MS and becoming a part of Northview Baptist Church.

Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jo Ellen Goings; his parents, Hizzie Lee and Lillie Mae Goings; sister, Jeanette Goings; brothers, Kenneth Goings and Arnold Goings; great-granddaughter, Allyson Harvey.

Ray is survived by his children, Diane Rash (James), Michael Goings (Monica), Billy Goings, Beth Lambert (Erik). His brother, Jerry Goings and sister, Patsy Townsend. His grandchildren, Nicole Pritchard, Tiffany Williams (Kaleb), Kristen Goings, Mallory Davis (Cody), Caitlyn Goings, Raie Garza (Katie), Carley Lambert and numerous great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Mound Baptist Church in Mound, LA from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am with Bro. James Busby and Bro. Dalton Mills officiating. Burial service will follow at the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah, LA. 

Pallbearers will be Roger Arnold, Cody Davis, Arch Yerger, Randy Lisonbee, Curtis Davis, and Rick Arnold. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Case and Billy Walker.
