James “Jim” Arlon Bolden, Sr.

James “Jim” A. Bolden, Sr. passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was 85 years old. He was born on November 2, 1939 in Prattville, AL to Eugene Bolden and Pearl Payton Bolden.

James A. Bolden, Sr., known affectionately as Jim, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was a man whose life was defined by his deep love for family, unwavering faith, and dedication to hard work. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures of tending his yard and spending time with friends. He cherished his fellowship and Bible study at The Waterford, where his faith continued to guide and inspire him. Proud of his years of service with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jim earned numerous awards and commendations for his excellence and commitment. His integrity, humor, and kindness touched all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved most. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

He is preceded by his wife, Margaret Bolden; parents, Eugene Bolden and Pearl Bolden; brothers, Lawrence Bazzell, Melvin Eugene Bolden and Clifford Bolden. 

He is survived by his son, James A Bolden, Jr. (Lawoka); daughter, Gretta Sorey (Eddy); grandchildren, Sarah Cote (Scott), Mallory May (Rob Reinike), Emily Bueche (Blair), Gabrielle May (Hunter Peeples), Jacob Bolden (Ashlyn Leblanc and Karakay Bolden; great-grandchildren, Carter Bueche, Camille Bueche, Landon Reinike, Mac Cote, Mayer Cote, Joyner Cote, Luke Bolden and Byrne Cote. 

Pallbearers will be Scott Cote, Hunter Peeples, Jacob Bolden, James A. Bolden, Jr., R.T Hodge and Charles Edward Sorey, II.

A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetey on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David Raddin officiating the service. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. at Glenwood Funeral Home.
