James Edward Minchew passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the VA Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, at the age of 75.
Mr. Minchew was born August 12, 1948, in Newellton, Louisiana, to Earl and Letha King Minchew. Mr. Minchew served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Mr. Minchew was an outdoorsman who loved turkey hunting and deer hunting, his favorite being turkey hunting.
Mr. Minchew is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Letha Minchew; sisters, Mary Swazy, Irma Griffin, and Debbie Scobee; and brothers, Ralph Minchew and Vernon “Tex” Minchew.
Mr. Minchew is survived by his brother, Rev. Daniel Minchew and wife Mildred; two daughters, Tracey Jordon and Teresa Minchew; two grandchildren; two stepchildren; Derrick King and Nickie King; two step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Julia Minchew; dear friend, Mary Jinnings; numerous nieces and nephews; and his four beloved Dotson dogs, Prissy, Bugger Red, Badger, and Jizzy Rose.
A graveside service for Mr. James Edward Minchew will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana, with his brother, Rev. Daniel Minchew, officiating under the direction of Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Jack Merritt, Chad Merritt, Ray Smith, Cecil Swazy, Paul Aday, and Randy Minchew.
