It is with profound sadness and many broken hearts, we announce the tragic passing of Jamison Laine Friley. Better known as Jay, who passed on the morning of December 1, 2024. Many families, friends, and even friends of family and friends are devastated by this loss. He was only 24, six days shy of his 25th birthday.
Jay was born in Vicksburg, MS on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1999. He was born to his mother Belinda Kay Martin and his father James Carl Friley Sr. From his mother, he shared 2 sisters and Carolyn Miller (Taylor) and Macey Martin. From his father, he shared 3 sisters, living: Angela Day deceased: Angela Friley and Victoria Friley and 7 brothers, living: Kenny Ezell, James Friley Jr., Joseph Friley, Dean Friley, and Justin Friley deceased: Claude Ezell and Tommy Friley. Siblings are all natives of Vicksburg, MS. Though numerous loved ones proceeded Jay in death, he leaves behind many siblings, nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles, grandparents, both of his parents and last but not least, his favorite person, his son, Ace Blaze Carroll (Avery).
Jay had recently been doing work laying fiber optic internet wire. It was out of town work and although he loved it, he missed all of his people at home more. He also had some huge health concerns raised. In July, we were made aware that Jay was suffering from Stage 3 throat cancer. So he came home to Vicksburg and his people… He started cutting grass but had been really talking/thinking about going to the police academy and had been in contact with officer Daniel Thomas. That amazes me that even after the news he received he still wanted to make a plan for his life and what he was going to do until he couldn’t anymore. Though he knew many trails and tribulations in his short life, Jay also knew God.
If you knew Jay, you knew how hard he loved. People loved him, too, he was never alone. He had an energy about him that drew people to him. From a young age he was the friendliest, most loving and well mannered child; with age that did never changed. He was the type of guy that if he walked into a room, he was going to speak and smile whether he knew you or not. If
he seen someone who needed help, and he had the means to help, he was going to!! His smile and laugh was infectious and if you were sad, he was sure to crack a lil joke or make a crazy comment even if it wasn’t “the right time or place for it”. Jay was a handful but in all the best ways, his absence will be felt in every room he will no longer gather with his friends and family in.
