Jimmy "Hamburger Harrison Obituary

Jimmy “Hamburger” Harrison passed away July 9, 2022, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Harrison was born July 18, 1943, at Longwood Plantation (Nitty Yuma, MS) and was a 1962 graduate of Hollandale High School. He was a longtime resident of Anguilla prior to moving to Vicksburg in 2017.

Hamburger was a retired farmer and business owner, owning and operating Anguilla Parts. Hamburger farmed alongside his parents and his sister (and eventually his niece), his entire life; either as a sharecropper, tenant farmer, and eventually farm owner.

Hamburger will be remembered for his quick wit, an uncanny ability to dismantle and repair anything with a motor. Hamburger learned mathematics at a very early age in order to win at dice in kindergarten. His love of cards games led to lifelong friendships and long-standing game nights at the American Legion. He was a superior marksman whose favorite past time was rabbit hunting with his dogs (or spot lighting rabbits with his sister in their youth).

Hamburger was of the Baptist faith.

Hamburger was proceeded in death by his sister, Mrs. Shirley N. White and parents, Mr. Joseph J. Harrison and Mrs. Eudie “Sis” Minga Harrison.

Hamburger is survived by a niece, Jo Lynn White of Cave Creek, AZ, a cousin, Guy Wayne Creekmore, Sr. (Diane), a brother-in-law, Morgan L. White, and a niece and caregiver, Angela K. White, all of Vicksburg.

The Family would like to thank his friends at Stonewood Manor and the County Market coffee club. Your kindness and friendship over the last years is truly appreciated.

A time of visitation with the family will be held Friday, August 5 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Anguilla, MS in the Fellowship Hall. A private burial at Hollandale City Cemetery will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation: The Baptist Children’s Village P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060-0027 or a charity of your choice.
